Samantha Grace Frank

Samantha Grace Frank

August 30, 2003 — April 16, 2024

On April 16th, 2024, I lost my daughter to suicide.

I lost a lot of time with her because of owning a company. I thought she would always be there. I was wrong.

When I tell you to get your life back — I mean it in ways that go beyond business.

As parents who couldn't have children, we hoped, prayed and completed paperwork. For our efforts, we were given the gift of the most beautiful baby girl. We had no idea what we were doing as parents, but this wouldn't matter as Samantha had everything figured out already. She was strong and smart, and she had big plans from day one.

Samantha was one of those people for whom everything came easily. Either through natural talent or through sheer force of will, she was going to conquer what she set out to do. She was a good artist, athlete and student. She left people with no doubt of her skills. When a gym teacher told class that girls aren't able to climb the rope, she climbed to the top, came back down, called him a sexist and left class. Her parents couldn't have been more proud.

Unfortunately, Samantha was born with one flaw—a tiny difference in her brain chemistry that made it impossible for her to see how wonderful she was. With our help, she fought her depression with medicines, all types of therapies and hospitalizations. She would improve but somehow, it would always return. For those of us closest to Samantha it was crushing to see her dragged back into this darkness. Her self-image was the first casualty, followed by her efforts to have friendships.

There are a lot of other wonderful, smart, funny and talented people like Samantha. As her family, we ask you to reach out and let them know that you see them, even if they can't see themselves.
